Prophet Kofi Oduro, the senior pastor of Alabaster International Ministries, has spoken out against lavish white weddings.
He feels that spending money on white weddings following customary rites is imprudent when the money may be better spent on initiatives that improve people’s quality of life.
The man of God noted that many guys are becoming dissuaded from getting married by the rising expenses of marriage ceremonies.
Prophet Oduro recommended unmarried men and women to choose traditional marriages in order to save money instead of spending it on more ostentatious rituals.
Expressing his stance against lavish white weddings, he remarked, “I don’t believe in that white wedding. Extravagant ceremonies with numerous bridesmaids and flower girls incur unnecessary debt. Regardless of one’s wealth, it’s an imprudent use of resources. Now, after being married for 25 years, it may be appropriate to celebrate with a lavish wedding anniversary, but not when starting out in life.”
The man of God advised couples to use their white wedding funds as down payments on properties or homes.
He advised financial prudence, warning against extravagant weddings that would ultimately discourage men from getting married.
This was the message that Prophet Oduro gave his congregation during a sermon.
