Real Madrid likely to ‘lose’ veteran defender next season

With the possible exception of Luka Modric, Real Madrid appeared to be planning to bring back every one of their older players for another season, but that may not turn out to be the case.

After hearing that Toni Kroos and Lucas Vazquez intend to stay with the team, Nacho Fernandez is allegedly still undecided about staying at the Santiago Bernabeu for the upcoming season.

According to Marca, the 34-year-old originally intended to quit last summer, but he changed his mind after his final game. The veteran defender is torn between the idea of finishing his career with just one club and maybe gaining new experience.

Despite the fact that Carlo Ancelotti has played him significantly more frequently this season—mostly because of injuries—his role when everyone is healthy appears unclear, as Aurelien Tchouameni has been chosen multiple times ahead of him in defense. Although the Italian has always trusted Nacho and stood by him despite his two red cards this season, Nacho has frequently been the last obvious choice in defense.

There hasn’t been as much news about Inter’s interest in the defender this season, but it seems like they were waiting for his reaction to their offer from last summer. Should he decide to extend with Los Blancos, it will be for an additional year. There are rumors circulating in the background that Real Madrid plans to chase Lille’s Leny Yoro this summer because they believe he is the next great thing.
